Michael Segura and Cher Pesses from Craftex

The Society for the Advancement of Floral Design (SAFD) will hold its first meeting of the 2023-24 season on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023, at Christ the Good Shepherd Church, located at 18511 Klein Church Rd., Spring, Texas 77379.  We will be meeting in Room B-207, B-209 which is located upstairs of the church office building. Please enter through the church office entrance. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 pm with the meeting starting at 7 pm. 

We are so excited to welcome Michael Segura and Cher Pesses from Craftex as our guest speakers to kick off the 2023-24 SAFD season.     

Michael Segura has worked in the floral industry since 1985. With experience in the day-to-day operations of running a flower shop, one of his favorite things was working on the bread and butter designs, or what he called his “sweet nothings”. Throughout the years, Michael’s work has been showcased in different local publications, magazines, and the Houston Chronicle. He has had the privilege of designing flowers for different affluent events and organizations, such as the Opera Ball, and UNICEF, as well as several celebrities. Michael currently works full-time for Craftex as one of the lead designers, one of the buyers, and the department supervisor over floral and Christmas, and is always happy to assist clients in any and all of their floral and decor needs. 

Cher Pesses has worked in the Floral and Interior Decor Industry now for 25 years. Cher has a great eye for color and texture and takes a “hands-on” approach to every project at hand.  Cher has experience in every aspect of floral work ranging from international buying and product development, conceptual drawings and sketches, target buying, and engineering a project to building and construction as well as installation. Cher’s creativity ranges from creating festive tablescapes for any and all occasions, to intimate or full-scale wedding and event planning, to Commercial and residential Christmas installations. Cher is a designer, buyer, lead for ribbon, and supervisor with Craftex. 

This is going to be an exciting evening that you don’t want to miss and we encourage anyone who has an interest in flowers and the art of designing to join us. We have members ranging from novice designers to floral shop owners and Texas Master Florists.  All are welcome to join us to learn and socialize together!
